Early Learning Center
The St. John’s Early Learning Center is a developmental preschool serving children between the ages of 2 and 6 years of age. The school is nonsectarian. Our developmental approach affirms the individuality of the child and provides an environment that fosters learning and socialization. The developmentally appropriate curriculum facilitates early self-confidence, critical thinking and love for discovery.
Our classes are held in two locations, St. John’s Campus on Spring Street in South Salem, New York and St. Paul’s Campus on Rt. 123 in Vista, New York, and are in session from September through the first week in June. Registration for currently-enrolled children begins November 15 and for new children on December 1.
St. John’s Campus offers a two-mornings-a-week program for two year olds, a three-mornings-a-week program for three year olds and a five-mornings-a-week program for fours. Two sessions of Kindergarten Enrichment (AM & PM) are held here as well. St. Paul’s Campus offers a five-mornings-a-week program for three and four year olds. Two sessions of Kindergarten Enrichment (AM &PM) are held here also.
Preschool classes include yoga, science and music enrichment as part of the curriculum. ELC offers outdoor play each day weather permits. ELC is a nut free school with a low child/teacher ratio.
The Early Learning Center employs a Director as well as five head teachers and five assistant teachers. All staff members are CPR and First Aid certified as well as epipen trained. Our teachers hold degrees in education, early childhood and related fields as well as 10+ years in experience. Our staff continues to be at the top of their field by attending professional seminars in early childhood education. Excellent communication is provided to families with two parent-teacher conferences, regular newsletters, opportunities for observation and open houses.
Through the positive support of the school staff, the parent body and the members of St. John’s Parish, the Early Learning Center will grow, flourish and serve the children in our community.
